Two UK travel agents have collapsed into administration after 100 years of experience in providing holiday tours and package holidays. TS Travel Ltd, and Tripsmiths Ltd, operate together as a specialist travel company but fell into administration earlier this month.
TS Travel, often called Tripsmiths for marketing efforts, describe themselves as “dedicated to crafting unique, unforgettable travel experiences that go beyond ordinary holidays”. The administrators of the travel agents told The Herald that the companies’ business and assets have now been sold, with existing customer bookings continuing “to be honoured”.
Tripsmiths offers a range of opportunities from South African safaris to train trips through Northern Italy.
The TS Tours website adds: “TS Tours boasts over 100 years of travel experience amongst its team of experts.”
Their best-selling tours include riding the railways of Norfolk with historian Lucy Worsley and a six-day trip to Slovenia including a stop at Lake Bled.
They also offer cruises, hotels and “travel inspiration” which includes customers’ advice top tips and reasons to visit specific destinations. The team is made up of experts with a background in travel or tourism.
On its website the company states it partners with “leading media”, “membership groups as well as individuals to bring you exclusive holiday experiences enjoyed by thousands of travellers annually”.
A spokesperson for the administrators told The Herald: “Tripsmiths Limited and TS Travel Limited entered administration on May 14, with Michael Solomons and Andrew Pear of Moorfields appointed as joint administrators.”
The spokesperson said: “Following their appointment, the joint administrators completed a sale of the companies’ business and assets.
Existing customers should not need to fret about current bookings as they added that the “purchaser has confirmed that existing customer bookings will continue to be honoured and all future holidays are going ahead as normal.”
“All customer monies are held securely in a trust account and guaranteed by the Travel Trust Association.
They added: “In connection with the transaction, employees of the companies transferred to the purchaser pursuant to TUPE regulations.”
The Express have reached out to Tripsmiths for comment.
